I am finishing on the final touches of the album and with that, I am upgrading the wesleyellismusic.com website once again. This is a test to make sure mobile posting works before I relaunch.

My first album, GROUNDWORK is coming to an end. I wanted my first album to be 14 songs, but it got cut to 12… Now it’s 10. But 10 very solid songs. I had a technical error on one of the 12 and another I wasn’t 100% about.
So with that, it will be 10 solid songs that I am proud of and hope you’ll like them.
I have 4 songs that need Electric Guitar and 2-3 that need keyboards, after that it’s just a general clean-up and mastering. Then I’ll release and finally start playing a few live shows. I’m already practicing my set.
For now I’m just hanging out downtown and writing up the final mixing notes for it… I can’t wait to finish it.

I’ve run into a bit of a bind, and I’m not able to finish my first album “Groundwork” without a hand… so I’m hoping that you can donate anything you can to help finish the CD! Kickstarter.com is a site where friends, family and fans can donate pledges for CDs, T-shirts or anything else. I have some good stuff on there! Please click on the link below to get to my Kickstarter site to help! Thank you everyone!

Hellomusic.com has added to the Yahoo music stream for indie musicians! The song added, is “Ending of Innocence”.
I was also asked about lending this song to the TV show on NBC called “Chase”. We’ll see if that one pans out!

From this point, life has stabilized enough for music again. I’m married now, and I’m back at work truckin’ along. Other than a big project or two staring me down, I’m ready to start working on music again. Currently, I’m close to being done. I have 3 songs at 90% completed, 5 at 70% and 4 at 50%. I also would like to add at least one more, but if I could just finish the eleven, I think I could live with that. I’m actually ready to move on as a musician and grow, but I don’t want the two CDs (or sounds) to merge into one and become a disjointed project. I just need to get the remaining instruments on the pieces, follow that up with finishing up on mixing and round it off in October (crosses fingers) for a mastering session. Ready for the next thing, but I want this to be the best I can make it. Wish me luck. Thanks, ~Wes – Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

I’d love to dream and thing about how great it would be if I won. I believe they get you signed within the industry if you end up as the final choice. If you have any interest in seeing my music propel forward, I would love it if you went to the site posted in this post and voted me up.
Wesley Ellis, born from the trailer-park, swamplands of Florida, left home With $150 dollars of tips from work. With a 20 year old cheap guitar, grocery bag suitcases and a 87′ Buick he bought from someone at a Donut shop at 3am, he set off for a better life in the big lights of New York City. Fate had other plans, as his 87′ Buick overheated and broke-down many times, including one final time in Charlottesville, VA during a freak hail storm. Seeing this a foreboding sign, he chose to plant his musical roots there instead; bringing together influences of musicians such as Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Peter Gabriel, Ben Harper, Counting Crows as well as the local band Dave Matthews Band.
After many attempts to get off the ground through, he found it extremely hard to move up from the local scene without a finished Demo CD. So Wesley Ellis set out to make his first Demo, “The Shape of Things to Come”. Unfortunately, this too has issues from the start, the only studio that was not someone’s basement in Charlottesville closed down because of economic struggles prior to his first session, and without a solid permanent band it was impossible to play live as an ensemble.
“It just seemed that everything was either destined to fail, or make a great story when it succeeded. I was hoping for the later”, says Wesley Ellis.
It all came together at the end, with a new name “Broke is the New Black”; when a new recording studio took the place of the last. “The Sound” opened in Charlottesville, Va in August of 2009… and since then Wesley Ellis has been able to find session musicians and a bit of funding to record a full CD. Skipping the Demo CD altogether.
The first 3 songs of the new CD “Broke is the New Black” has been released online as Wesley Ellis is working with “The Sound” currently to finish the CD by June of 2010.
